Directed Reading Program
The Directed Reading Program (DRP) is an opportunity for Princeton undergraduates to work one-on-one with a graduate student for a semester-long reading project in mathematics. The program is open to undergraduates of any year and major interested in exploring a mathematical topic in-depth over a semester. Participating in the DRP is a great way to explore mathematics and discover/pursue your personal interests. Students who are new to math or who are underrepresented in the mathematics community are especially encouraged to participate.
DRP participants are paired with grad student mentors based on their interests, and a project topic is chosen by the mentor and the mentee in collaboration. Mentors and mentees meet once per week for one hour, and students should expect to work about 4 hours on their own time each week. The program culminates in a symposium where students present their projects.
The DRP is an excellent way to receive personal attention and mentorship in your mathematics study. The DRP also fosters social and academic connections between undergraduates and graduate students in the mathematics community. We encourage all interested students to take advantage of this opportunity.
Note: This program is not for course credit.
