In three of my papers, written in collaboration with (subsets of) Barthel, Beaudry, Bobkova, Goerss, Henn, Hill, and Pham, there appear three ways in which representation spheres of specific finite or profinite groups describe interesting elements in chromatic Picard groups, including the quintessential Picard group of the K(n)-local category. I will describe these representation spheres, and discuss some questions inspired by their presence.
