Matija Bucić, Assistant Professor (September 2023-September 2025) received the European Prize in Combinatorics for outstanding achievements in Ramsey theory (Fishburn and Graham's problem), graph theory (Erdős-Gallai conjecture), and discrete geometry.
Cosmin Pohoata '14 also shared the European Prize in Combinatorics for important achievements in the following areas: combinatorial geometry (Heilbronn triangle problem), extremal graph theory (Erdős “box” problem), and the variegated “matching” problem of hypergraphs.
The European Prize in Combinatorics is awarded biennially at EUROCOMB to outstanding researchers under the age of 35 for exceptional contributions to the field.
