In the past two decades, we have witnessed rapid development in the construction of minimal surfaces using min-max theory and gluing construction. In this talk, I will present two recent results. (1) The existence of minimal surfaces of arbitrary genus in every 3-sphere of positive Ricci curvature. (2) The existence of minimal surface doublings for index one minimal surfaces in generic 3-manifolds (joint with Daniel Stern).
