In this talk, I will introduce two recent progress in the min-max theory of minimal surfaces. I will first introduce a higher-codimensional min-max construction for branched minimal immersions in closed manifolds, based on a joint work with D. Cheng. I will then introduce construction of at least two embedded minimal S^2 in (S^3, g) with an arbitrary metric g, based on a joint work with Z. Wang.
