I want to describe certain invariants associated to an asymptotically hyperbolic Einstein manifold (AHE), and explain how they capture the interaction of the boundary geometry and the geometry of the interior, as well as regularity of the metric. Since the general existence problem for AHE metrics can be obstructed, I will talk about work with R. Graham on computing some of these invariants for metrics that satisfy a weakening of the Einstein condition.
