Online Talk

I will talk about recent joint work with P. Bhattacharya and J.D. Quigley in which we construct new v_2^{32}, v_2^{16} and v_2^{8} periodic families in stable homotopy groups of spheres at p=2. I will describe our results and main computational tools, in particular carefully chosen finite complexes. I will also explain how computations with topological modular forms are used to detect these periodic families.
