Chasing a Conjecture: Inside the Mind of a Mathematician

Chandrashekhar Khare is a professor of mathematics at UCLA. Together with Jean-Pierre Wintenberger, he proved Serre’s conjecture, which connects Galois representations and modular forms, two central objects in number theory. His memoir, Chasing (a) Conjecture, tells the personal story behind this work.
