Financial Support

First- year students receive the First-Year Fellowship in Science & Engineering, plus full tuition and student health plan coverage.  A select few are awarded the Centennial Fellowship, which is currently $4,000 over First-Year Fellowship amount.  All first-years are exempt from grading and teaching.

Second-, third- and fourth-year students are expected to grade/teach each semester and are paid as half Assistants in Instruction (AI) and half Assistants in Research (AR). Students are encouraged to apply for external funding.  If a student is awarded an external fellowship that also pays stipend and tuition, s/he would be exempt from having any grading/teaching duties unless required for a teaching recommendation needed for most postdoctoral applications.
