The Vietoris Rips complex assigns a simplicial complex to a discrete metric space.  An important example is the Vietoris Rips complex of hypercube graphs which arise in coding theory.  There has been some progress describing the topology of these VR complexes for small scale parameters.  In joint work with Jelana Grbic I will describe work in progress  which uses the Hochster-Stanley-Reisner correspondence to find non trivial cohomology classes.
