We examine the stability of viscous and inviscid multidimensional planar wave solutions of the isentropic and nonisentropic MHD equations.

For corresponding parameters, viscous waves are unstable whenever inviscid waves are unstable. We discuss results regarding the converse. We also consider new techniques for carrying out computer assisted proof of stability of traveling waves.
