The Breakthrough Prize Foundation has announced that Veblen Research Instructor Sarah Peluse will receive the 2022 Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize and Jacob Tsimerman *11, Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and Princeton's Fall 2021 Minerva Distinguished Visitor, will receive the 2022 New Horizons in Mathematics Prize. Peluse is cited for her contributions to arithmetic combinatorics and analytic number theory, particularly with regards to polynomial patterns in dense sets, and Tsimerman for his outstanding work in analytic number theory and arithmetic geometry, including breakthroughs on the André-Oort and Griffiths conjectures.

Each year the Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontier's  and New Horizons Prizes are each awarded to up to three recipients by the Breakthrough Prize Foundation, and recognize early-career researchers.
