The Simons Foundation has named Professor Christopher Skinner *97 one of the 2015 Simons Investigators. According to the foundation, "the Simons Investigators program provides a stable base of support for outstanding scientists, enabling them to undertake long-term study of fundamental questions." The citation for Professor Skinner remarks on his work "in number theory and arithmetic geometry. One of his striking recent results is a proof, in joint work with collaborators, that a positive proportion of elliptic curves defined over the rational numbers satisfy the Birch–Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture."Professor Skinner is the third Princeton Mathematics Department faculty member to receive the 5-year, renewable grant; Professors Manjul Bhargava and Amit Singer both received the award in 2012.
