I have never seriously considered owning Mac hardware before.

I was forced to use old Macintoshes, and then some iMacs during high school; when I worked at Argonne, the lab uses almost exclusively Macs (I think part of the reason is that the data analysis and gathering software were first written for Macs). I find myself reasonably comfortable with using the computers, but was no big fan of them.

When the iPod came out, I thought, "meh". I could get cheaper and, in my opinion better, MP3 players (that will, for example, play Ogg-Vorbis formats) from other brands (and hence my JetAudio M3).

I was derisive of the iPhone, as I don't think anyone could use a phone with that many functions.

But the MacBook Air... that is sexy.

The first time I am covetting Apple branded hardware... I just don't think I am willing to spend the dough for it though.
