Textbook: Hoffman and Kunze, "Linear Algebra" (2nd edition)

We will cover roughly one chapter of the text per week. Read the book carefully.
The lectures will cover selected topics from the text and extra material.
The latter will made available in course notes handed out in class.

Grading: The course grade will be computed as follows:
A take home quiz will be distributed at the end of class on Wednesday February 17.
The quiz will be closed book, 60 minutes, and must be returned in class on Friday February 19.

A take home midterm will be distributed at the end of class on Wednesday March 10.
The midterm will be closed book, 120 minutes, and must be returned in class on Friday March 12.

For the last problem, Section 1.6:12, prove the matrix A is invertible for all n - you may consider the question of integer entries if you wish, but only invertibility is required for the assignment
