John Pardon '11 receives the 2012 AMS-MAA-SIAM Frank and Brennie Morgan Prize

John Pardon '11 has received the 2012 AMS-MAA-SIAM Frank and Brennie Morgan Prize for Outstanding Research in Mathematics by an Undergraduate Student.  The Morgan Prize is presented annually by the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. The prize will be awarded on Friday, January 5, 2012, at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Boston.

2011 Fermat Prize for Mathematical Research awarded to Professors Manjul Bhargava and Igor Rodnianski

The 2011 Fermat Prize for mathematical research has been awarded to Manjul Bhargava, the Thomas D. Jones Professor of Mathematical Physics and the Brandon Fladd, Class of 1983, Professor of Mathematics, and mathematics professor Igor Rodnianski. The Toulouse Mathematics Institute in France has awarded the biennial prize since 1989 to researchers whose work is accessible to the greatest number of mathematicians in fields shaped by Renaissance French mathematician Pierre de Fermat. Bhargava was recognized for his work in number theory and elliptic curves.

Professor Amit Singer has received the 2010 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their research careers.

Adam Hesterberg '11 Receives Fulbright Award

Adam Classen Hesterberg (Class of 2011 and Mathematics Major) has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarship to Hungary in Mathematics, the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently.

Hesterberg is one of over 1,600 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad for the 2011-2012 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
